Linking Directly to a Course Preview Page
WebCT provides the option for a Course Preview Page in order to provide information about a course (such as a syllabus) without requiring login access. Additional links to URLs outside WebCT can also be provided on this page.
Prior to allowing students full access to a course, the Course Preview Page is intended to provide prospective students with information regarding the course. The course preview page can consist of a file or multiple files and pages located in the course's public folder. It is recommended that a Course Preview Page include:
WebCT 6 does not include a specific tool for creating a course preview page. A course preview page needs to be created in an HTML editor and uploaded to the publicly available space. Please see the File Manager document for instructions regarding uploading files to the public folder |

The following instructions outline the process for uploading an HTML course preview page to the publicly available space in a WebCT course.
| 1. | Uploading files to a WebCT course's public folder, within the Build tab of the course click on the File Manager link located in the Designer tools menu |  |
| 2. | If it is not currently selected click on the course file link (ex. Anth 1010) located above the File Manager (folder navigation) window. Then click on the Public Files link/folder. |  |
| 3. | From the file manager portion of the page click on the Get Files button to open the content browser popup window. |  |
| 4. | Within the Content Browser window click on the My Computer icon in order to open up a file navigation window and upload a file from a computers hard drive. |  |
| 5. | Locate the file you intend to upload to the WebCT public folder and double click the file (the upload should begin). |  |
| 6. | After all of the desired files have been uploaded to the Public Files folder, click on the Manage Course link in the Designer Tools menu. |  |
| 7. | From the Manage Course pain click the Course Preview Page Setup link. |  |
| 8. | In order to specify your course preview page click on the Browse for Course Preview Page button to open the class files Public Files folder |  |
| 9. | In order to designate a file to be the course preview page, click on the radio button to the left of the file name and click the OK link/button at the bottom of the class files window. |  |
To view a courses preview page --
Located on the WebCT login page, before logging in, click on the "Course List" button/link to display a list of course categories.
Click on the category link to view the available course for a specific department/category name.
To expand a list of the various sections of the course click on the green arrowhead to the left of the course abbreviation and number.

In order to link directly to your Course Preview Page follow the instructions above in the Viewing a Course Preview Page section. You will probably need to expand your web browser menu to revile the address bar. Use the http's: address in the address bar window as the link for linking directly to your Course preview page. The address will look similar to the one below.
