Since moving over to the current version of Blackboard Vista a year ago, the way we do backups for courses is very different. In the Build tab you can click on Manage Course and then Backups to create a Backup. This backup can only be restored by admin. This is for emergencies.
Regular Semester-based Courses
We will keep regular semester-based courses for a year on the system. So, all Fall 2006 courses will stay on the system, without student access, until mid-way through Fall 2007 and then we will contact you about deleting them. You will follow the procedure for New Semester Setup to copy content from one semester to the next. These courses will be automatically populated at the beginning of each semester with the students who are registered for the course.
Non-semester Based Courses
These courses will stay in Blackboard Vista until you ask us to delete them for you. These courses will not be automatically populated and will need to have students both deleted and added manually.
Courses Taught Every Other Year or Two
You will need to create a Test Course that is "Blank" and then copy content over so that the course is not deleted from the system. Follow the procedures for New Semester Setup.
Test Courses
All test courses will stay in the system until you ask us to delete them for you.
